New President

Many American citizens become overwhelmed with joy, excitement, drawn into tear, and cheer with smiles on their faces as the first African American, Barack Obama became the forty fourth president of the United State, who made a historic event for all to remember. On January 20, 2009 Obama was sworn into office giving his first inaugural address in front of millions of people who were present in Washington D.C and millions who watched live broadcasting on television all over the nation. Many have heard in Obama’s presidential campaign of the promises that he will fulfill once he become the president of the Untied State. In the inaugural address that were presented, Barack Obama want to inspire the American people by telling us that we are confident hard working people who will face many changelings obstacle, but we will work through it by communicating with one another to solve the problems.

On this historical moment many of the audiences that president Obama present his speech in front of were many people from many race of people. Many of these people have come from all over across the United States and other country. There were African Americans, Caucasians, Hispanic, Asian, and many other people that were there in the audience who want to be in the present of the first African American president while the inauguration was given on a nice cloud cover day in Washington D.C. . When Obama gave his speech he did not only speak to the people in the United States, but other nations and its leader as well. Some of the nation that Obama direct his message to are the Muslim world telling them that, “we seek a new way forward, based on mutual interest and mutual respect.” (Obama 5), “To those leaders around the globe who seek to sow conflict or blame their society’s ills on the West, know that your people will judge you on what you build, not what you destroy.”(Obama 5), and to the people of the poor nations, we pledge to work alongside you to make your farms flourish and let clean waters flow; to nourish starved bodies and feed hungry minds.”(Obama 5) These were some of the nations that were the indirect audience for the speech. The other audience that he makes reference to was the brave American which is the solider that help protect America during time of crisis.

Like the other professional speaker the presidents all use different strategy to get their audience attention and persuade the audience. A lot of the professional speaker as well as the president what to use strategy that will stick with the audience for as long as they can remember the speech and whatever that is being presented. In Obama’s speech specifically he use a lot of parallelism in his speech to grab the audiences’ attention and make it a lot easier for the people listening to the speech to leave with the message that was being convey. Some of the example that president Obama use in his speech is have, “on this day…..we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord.” (Obama 3) and the other example is “Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and again the work of remaking America,” (Obama 3). The reason that Obama use this strategy to persuade or grab attention of his audience because he what his audience to understand his message, also because it is written like a list of stuff so that many people will remember what was said and remember it. When using a list in speeches or writing it helps balance the writing out and it also gives flow or rhythm to the speech. Another type of strategy that president Obama use in his speech is agenda setting which is making plan to make a better future for America. Basically it is saying that they will take action now and help create new stuff that is needed to make American citizens happy. This speech also have a lot of past to future reference that was used to make a lot of reference from the past of our founding father who have when through a long time ago trying to make America a good conditioning place to all of us to live at today. The speaker attempt to use a lot of this type of strategy to help all of us to get back on track and go forward reminding American people of the past, and reminding us that there are a lot of good things to come in the future so that we need to work together as a whole to fulfill the American dream.

During the time when the speech was given the United State was going through an economy crisis. Many American was going through a though time because lots of jobs was cut back and many other stuff was cut back making it hard for many of the American families live.

Penguin

In my past English class, I had to do a report, getting information from A National Geographic magazine, I was like this is going to be really hard because it has boring article and it did not seem to be fun. As I was looking for a magazine to write about, I really like this one that I picked it had penguins and it reminder me of the movie “ Happy Feet,’’ so I thought that it was going to be interesting and fun to read about penguins.

There are a lot of interesting article in the magazine that I looked at, but the most interesting on was called “Emperors of the Ice.” it is about penguins. I thought that this quote, “Regal birds nurture their young through relentless blizzards, and months of killing cold.” -Glenn Oeland is a sad quote because these birds live Antarctica and it is very, very cold there even though that’s how they live, but seeing that they have young ones are even sadder because they have to try and keep their baby as warm as possible so nothing dangerous would happen to it.

This is an interesting article because I learned that these emperors birds live in a place that becomes like a looming hurricane in March. Where they all have to look for places to stay at to survive. An interesting thing I read was that this birds breed in winter, and that the females compete for males, and that they are very unfaithful to others. It just sounds like something that a human being would do.

Reading the article I came upon a part where it was talking about the process or months that a male father had to do to comfort the newborn baby. It sounded interesting because in the real world the mother and father work together to take care the child until they’re really to be on it’s own, but it is different how penguins take cares of their baby. I learned that the male penguins has the egg on his feet for 65 days until it is good and ready for the mother to take care of it. While they are doing that they loss a third of it’s body weight. These egg are usually laid in the early winter. These are some of the interesting facts.

All of the pictures in these magazine are really beautiful and nice. There is a picture that I really like. It was the picture of the ocean where there was a huge ice with a lot of penguins standing on top of it and being bunch together to enjoy their self in having some fun with the others. Some were jumping into the water which also reminded me of a scene from the movie I mention early in the report . It seem really creative, the way how most of the penguins stick together through the coldness and horrible weather there in Antarctica

Final days

Today was the last English class day. I can’t believed that I survived till the end of the semester. A lot of people were in this class at the beginning of the semester, but as the year go by a lot of people started disappearing, one by one. I think that a lot of them who is no longer in the class at the end of the semester dropped because they were either there to see how the instructor teaches, were getting sort of bad grade or just couldn’t handle all of the pressure from the instructor. All the instructor want was for the students that’s in his class to follow his instruction and do the assignment correctly. A lot or no all of the assignment that was given in this class was simple at times, but hard at the same time. All I had to do was follow the instruction thoroughly, so I would not get low score of points for the assignment. This instructor was very strict, but I learned a lot in this English class then my pervious English class that I had taken there at that campus. Everyday we did and learned different things, but if something required longer time to teach then it will take two or three day instead of learning something new one day and move on to a different subject. It didn’t feel like thing was rush, it was like everything went smooth.

For the final project or thing that we had to turn in for the instructor to grade was doing a portfolio and journal. For the portfolio, the folder was already provided by the instructor, so we had to do was revise two of the essay that was already graded along with a cover memo page with six short 4-6 line. The question was already given to us so we just had to answer it and made sure that our worked was done correctly with no errors. In class today we had a final essay that was had to do answering this prompt question that I don’t think I did a really good job on, but hopefully everything will go right so that I would get a descent good grade for this class.

Past Summers

Two to three years ago, I went traveling outside of the state during the summer time. I don’t really remember, but I think it was during summer 2007 that I went to Taiwan for about two weeks or so with my cousins, aunties, and uncle. It was my first time traveling outside of the U.S. it was very humid and different compare to here, the United State. It was very hot as well. While I was there, I had went sight seeing at many different places that I don’t remember the name of, but it was very nice and beautiful. I remember, the whole group traveling in a big bus riding along the coast, near the ocean with blue clear water, the scenery was awesome. In the bus ride we sang different song and did other things to have time fly by. We all knew everyone in the bus, so we were all sort of comfortable around each other. Oh, I also went to the highest and tallest building call Taipei 101. I went all the way up to the building and when looking down from the building it wasn’t scary, but everything down below looked like ants. Beside doing all of that, we also went shopping at the mall, but it was very expensive. A lot of the store within the mall seem like some of the stores that we have here. I did more then this, but this is all that I remember.

The following year or so I travel to Southeast Asian to Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia. For this trip it was me and three of my cousins. The four of us went like a week earlier then the other people who later met up with us in Thailand. They didn’t go to the other country mentioned above, but we did. I had a lot of fun, but all the airplane ride and bus was tiring. We also took the taxi and that was my first time. Oh man, I really miss the food that I at there, the food was very good and cheap compare to the food that they sell out here. We went sight seeing : temples, floating market, night markets, and many more. I also went to the city in Thailand call Phuket, where the tsunami hit a while back. We stayed in a hotel near the beach that they rebuild after it was destroyed. It was sad because I could still see the debris that was left behind and it was not clean up or anything. I really had lots of fun during these summer that I travel to a different country.

Weddings

Beginning this year, I found out that my cousin and niece were getting marry. First was my cousin wedding which took place last month in April. Then the second wedding hasn’t come yet, but it will be soon by the end of this month my niece would be getting marry. I was really happy and surprise about the news of them tying the knot. I was not sure how my cousin’s husband pop the question, but that’s not important I guess. What’s important is that they are now married and living happily in a home that they purchase together. I am hoping that they will soon have a child or so because they really love children and would be a very great parents toward their child. I will just have to wait to hear this news of them conceiving. At their wedding reception, I had a great time with my parents, family member, cousins, and other relatives. It had a nice view and delicious vegetarian food.

I can not wait to attend my niece wedding at the end of this month. Her wedding would probably be a little differently from the weddings that I have went to in the past. I think it will be different because its going to be just dinner at a restaurant at least that’s what I heard. I know that her color theme for her weeding is going to be shade of pink, but I don’t. I thought that it was wrong that she did not ask her sister or brother to be a part of her bridal shower or any of her close cousin. Whatever its her wedding and as long as she likes it and is happy about her decision then that’s fine. No complaints from any of us. We will just be there as her guest enjoying her big day, the food, and companies of families and relatives. Hopefully, everyone that do attend will have an awesome time.

Wild Jam 2010

Wow, I haven’t been to a concert in a very long time. I recently attended one down in San Jose and it was not so bad. I had lots of fun and it was crazy. Lol, anyways it was called wild jam 2010 host by the station wild 94.9. There was many different artist performing some including Trey Songz, Usher, Keisha, Lil Jon, Jay Shawn, New boy, and other that I don’t really remember. I did not even hear about this event until my cousin told me, “ Hey your coming with us to the Wild Jam concert,” oh I am, okay that’s fine. I was surprise basically that I got a ticket to the event. Usually they would call and ask if I want to go somewhere, but this time it was like I was obligated to go. I asked that it was crazy because many people was screaming the artists name, singing along, dancing crazily, and there was people fighting as well. They were escorted out the building by the security.

I was looking forward to seeing the artist Usher and Trey Songz. They were the last two performer who had at least thirty minute to perform. They perform the longest and their fans was screaming on top of their lung. People that I went was came home the next day and said their losing their voice and they did sound like they lost their voice. I could even hear anything afterward because it wad really loud. I enjoyed the songs that were sang by the artist. Usher was the last performer and he was the one that close the show. I was upset that I forgot my camera at home, so I did not get to take or record and clear picture/ video of the performance. I had my cell phone but the quality was not good at all. It was not clear and I couldn’t figure out how to zoom in when recording. Anyways, I enjoyed and had lots of fun at the concert. It was not what I expected but still it was a good lineup of performance.

shakespeare's book

The book,I read is title,Shakespeare’s Insults for Teachers. This book is written by Wayne F. Hill and Cynthia J.Ottchen, full of insults that Shakespeare had asked or used when he was alive. I found this book interesting to read because it talks about different ways or things to act upon when it comes to these situation involving the teachers, students, administrators, and even parents. The insults are about teachers that are boring, weird, tyrannical, and incompetent administrator. It is also insults for students that are lazy, get distracted easily, and even those that always have excuses to do things. I know that few of students who are always coming up with excuses when they don’t want to do certain thing. Lastly, it have insults about parents who are prejudiced or blaming and those that set a poor example for their children or other people.

I think that this book is well organize and really interesting because it give ideas about what happen and could had happen during certain situation. I thought that this book of Shakespeare is a very creative because the words that he choose to use is very weird and weird to pronounce. I sometime have a hard time saying the word that is written in the book of Shakespeare.

There are many quotation in this book that I like. Quote such as, “You had measur’d how long a fool you were upon the ground .” I am not really sure what this quote means, but I think have an idea or clue what it means. I thought that it was a nice quote. This is another quote from the play Romeo and Juliet which said, “ ( They are) the children of an idle brain, Begot of nothing but vain fantasy, which is as thin of substance as the air And more Inconstant then the wind.” I thought that this was kind of a long quote even though I have a shallow understanding of the quote. I think it mean that we are children of the people who are stupid or lazy who show of what they can or want attention like the wind blowing in the sky.

I learned that scholars also means “school of attendees” or at least “on-the-rolls.” I always thought that is meant student who are in school. This book has a lot of quote that I like and dislike at the same time. The one that I dislike is stupid and hard to understand. I think that I would try and remember this quote that I am going to mention in a little bit because I think it is funny. I could imagine or see it really happening to people if they know or understand the quote. Well, the quote is “ if you be mad, be gone: if you have reason, be brief.” this is a short and easy quote to remember and understand.

From my reading and my understanding about Shakespeare is that he write what want he want to and does not care what people care or think of him or his writing. He write in way for him to express his feeling and say how he feel toward thing. He is creative and well known by a lot of people in and around the world. Overall I would say that I like reading his play or book because it contain interesting stuff.

Experience at public meeting

The “public meeting” that I have attended was a city council meeting in Oakland California. It was at the Oakland City Hall with members from the committee such as Patricia Kernighan from district 2, Nancy Nadel from district 3, Vice Mayor Ignacio De La Fuente from district 5, chairperson Jean Quan from district 4 and four more other person that I did not catch their name. These are all people from the city council in the city of Oakland. This meeting was about Finance and Management of Oakland where there was maybe about 30 to 40 or less then that in the audience at the hearing. Mostly it was older people in the audience from the budget office, the public works agency, the finance and management agency, the department of the human resource management , and from the Oakland police department. Myself and another person was the only college student in the audience which was interesting to see because I would expect to see more college student. A lot of the attendee were dress professionally in business suit and was well presented.

From this meeting they talked about 10 items that was previously discussed.. Out of the 10 items that was talked about at the meeting I thought was interesting was about the budget for the fiscal year from 2009 to 2011 about whether taxes on property and gas would increase for the next coming up years. The next item was about parking garage in the Oakland down town around where there are a couple of garages that are either empty, has a lot of over night parked car, and or space that are reserve. For this item they talked about it was interesting to see that questions was put out on the table about whether those parking space was suppose to be on reserve or free parking for the employees that works for the city council. I was surprise to see a committee member ask the person that was presenting the topic what is free? Just like what was taught in class.

After each item is presented in front of the committee member they listen to what was said then they say what they have to say about it. Before moving on to the next topic they asked for who motion or second the proposal. I thought that it was well organize and interesting, but at the same time I kind of thought that it was boring because there was just a lot of talking and a lot of going back and forth. The whole meeting was about an hour or so long. I thought that it was rude that the committee member just get up and walk off from their seat to leave and refresh their self while people are presenting their proposal. Also one of them pick up their phone and started talking which was not nice, but I guess that it is a normal thing for them and from their perspective it not rude when they do those thing while the meeting is in session.

Overall, the governance for the meeting was good. I would attend another meeting like this if it was not a class assignment. This meeting would apply to me and many other people because it can effect us if we try to find parking in the downtown Oakland City Hall area because it is already difficult finding a space to park. Also if they do decide to increase taxes it would effect home owner and many people who owns vehicle if gas taxes increase. This was a good public meeting even though there was not a lot of turn out.

inspiring

In my past English class I learned about a well know hip pop icon Tupac Shakur. I also learn about how he was living his life. Many people are touch by this artist from the way he presence his work such as songs, poetry and stories of his life. During his life time he was a smart, strong, and brave young person who did not let anything get in his way of surviving. He was killed during a drive by shooting in his late twenties, but during his early life he was the best rap artist selling a lot of record and he was also an activist following his mother footstep. A lot of his works has been taught in school after his death because many have notice that there was an intelligent person who does a lot of goods that other should know about. His songs and poem are sad and people can relate to them because the way Tupac expresses how he felt is touching. It come from his heart and his learning experience while growing up. In his songs and poem he expresses how he felt growing up in an environment with poverty, racism, hardship in the ghetto, and problems that he see happening in the society. He has a mother that he loves and cares about a lot, but she was always in and out of his life due to being a member of the Black Panther Party known as Afeni Shakur. As for his father he was never in his life because when Tupac was born his father abandon his mother and him.

After learning about this pop icon I can really respect and see how much people really relate or respect music artist so much. He wasn’t just a music artist, but a person who wanted to make a change in young people life. He inspire many to open their heart and minds to explore the world and enjoy lives.

Me......

My name is Cynthia Phan. I am 20 years old and always get mistaken for a Chinese girl because apparently all people say Asian are Chinese and that I look like I’m Chinese. I am Mien, a hill tribe that is from Laos and Thailand. My parents are from Laos, I was born here in Oakland, California on January 6, 1990. I lived here in Oakland for all my life with both of my parents, siblings, and relatives all around the bay. I have a very big family where I am the youngest of seven children, four brothers and two sisters. I am very close to my family. Being the youngest of the family meant that I was spoil and get what I want, but that was not the case I would always have to help my parents with translation, filling out forms, and more. In a way they depended on me to help them, but I depend on them the most to provide for me to be where I am today. I have graduated from Oakland Senior high school in the school of 2008 and attended University of California for a year, but now I am here at College of Alameda. I’m proud of myself for getting this far and I know that my parents are too.
As I was growing up I wasn’t always the smart or perfect daughter, sister or student because I’m from a low income family where I have to share things with my older siblings and cousins because I was not privilege like other families that are high class or middle class that gets what they want. I have always had work my hardest on everything to be successful and get a higher education so that I would not have to struggle as much as while I was growing up. Many of my family members including myself had gone through some kind of hardship to get to where we are now. I grew up not getting help from my parents on school assignments or anything else that involves English. Both of my parents weren’t as lucky as I was because back in the days they had to do farm work to survive and get through life making it harder for them to be educated. Even though, they weren’t educated, but they are still very supportive and is always there for me and my siblings.

Ladies' reader

I read a book called, The Ladies’ Room Reader. The Ultimate Women’s Trivia Book. This book is written by Alicia Alvrez and published by the MJF Books Fine Communications in New York. This book is well organize and interesting. It has a table of content in the first or second page follow by with a little short introduction of the world of women, then the first chapter continues. I really like the story a lot because it talks about different things that women does. Like things that entertains women, getting mulled at, facts on women, and feminine food that women would want to have. I just thought that this book is fun to read because you get to learn and hear different things from another person point of view, beside people that’s around you.

The ladies reader book would be read by people like teens and people in their early twenty to late or early thirty or maybe even men who want to learn more about women. I think that not many younger elementary student would read it because they would be young to understand what it is about. Its easier and not hard to understand the reading when you’re older reading the book. You could also somehow relates to the story when you come upon a comment or statement in the story. It is funny because of the things that are said in the book. The book also has pictures of the high hills, make-ups, purses hearts, numbers, birds, and etc. I like how it has these different picture to go along with the writing on each page.

I thought that there are a lot of statement in the story that I like. Such as, “American women spend over 5 billion a year on cosmetics and beauty supplies.” I wonder if this is really true. I think that I don’t use this much money on my beauty supplies. I think that this is funny, when designer Edith Head won the Best Costume Oscar for Roman Holiday, she said, “ I’m going to take it home and design a dress for it.” who would actually make a dress for their Oscar. I never thought of this comment before. I would like to see someone design a dress for their Oscar. Another thing that I like is this where it said that money makes the world go round. The U.S. News and World Reported tells us that women slightly outnumber men(50.4 to 49.6) in millionaire status. It’s not only because of our increased earning power, but also because we live longer than men, we end up inheriting their wealth too. These are a few that I like when I read the book.

Here are a few facts that I also like. In Little rock, men and women are prohibited from flirting on the street. The fine, if caught, is 30 days in the clink. I think that it is stupid, crazy, and dumb because it sounds really strict. Overall, I enjoyed reading this book because it was funny, had stupid facts, and other interesting information.

Self-defining Incident

As I was growing up I remember always being the quiet, shy person. When I was in elementary my teachers would say, “Why are you so quiet and shy.” I don’t know why, but I wouldn’t respond to them because I was probably too scared and of course shy around people. Whenever I received my report card from my teachers I would always look in the comment section. On that space it was written “Participate more in class, stop being shy, and speak up.” I would see this on every single report card that I get. My parents also noticed that and they would always try and lecture me about it. Especially my dad, he would tell me to try my best, stop being shy, and speak up. If you don’t then you are not going to get what you want in life because no one would know if you need help or not. I took that into consideration because if I’m too quiet and shy, no one would know if I need any help.

Everyone that knew me would also say the same thing. They would say that I’m too quiet and shy. I was getting tired of hearing the same thing over and over again from different people. I probably heard that more then a million time or so now. Even though I hear that a lot and want to stop being that way, but I just can’t because I was born with that trait of being quiet and shy. The friends that I knew and went to school with back in elementary was kind of like me, but I notice that now, they are very different from before and changed a lot.

Throughout elementary and middle school, I continued being shy and quiet, I don’t know why. People would recognize me as the girl that’s quiet and shy. They labeled me as that. I didn’t really care because that’s the way that I am. I can’t just wake up one morning and say, “ Oh I am going to stop being shy and quite.” it takes time and I can’t do anything about it. Its in my genes. I just let them recognize me as that person because that’s who I am.

Whenever I am around my cousins, aunts, and uncles they would say the same thing. I remember always hearing that I am like my daddy from my aunts. They said that I got my personality from my dad because he is also the type that’s quiet and sometimes shy. Unlike my mom, who always has something to say on everything that happens and who is very loud. She likes to yell and raise her voice. It seems like that or she was just the type that has a loud voice. They would say that they like who I am and the way I am because I ’m not all wild or acting crazy. My aunt would give me a lecture when I see her about being too shy or quiet and not responding to someone when they’re talking to you. I do respond, but I have a low soft voice, that’s what I think, but people seem to say that I am ignoring them. My aunt would say, “ People don’t like it when you don’t respond and they going to think that you’re all that, can’t even speak to them.” Although I am quiet and shy I have a soft low voice and people just don’t hear me when I speak to them, but I’m not ignoring anyone. I want to say something back to her but I know that if I do then she is going to understand me, but still get upset about it. She seem to think that I don’t like her and always trying to ignore her.

Lauren Whitehead is a poet who write many poem and had try to help children from failing into a trouble life. She is a directed or a counselor at a group call youth speaks. This program or group help young children with expressing their self in writing on either paper or speaking out in a large crowd of people. There are many students in the program who are from different background that had went through or faces some kind of problem while growing up. Writing poem help many people express their feeling and thoughts. It also help with people being more open to things that they come across to.
I agree that poetry does save many lives because I know that a lot of people expresses the way they feel by writing their thoughts and ideas down on paper instead of telling someone face to face. For example, in the video that we saw in class there was many poetry spoken word youths team being form because it help many of the young youth living in good or bad environment speak up and make a change in their life. They get to express how they feel towards something, tell about incidents that occur in their life, or just anything that they want to out of their chest.
An example from Brave New Voices was seeing youth that has disability being proud and excited about trying to make it in a team competing with other youths around the world. They are learning new thing through poetry, making changes within their self, and reflecting on their life. Many people are super passionate about spoken word poetry.
Poetry keep the youth out of trouble and I guess that writing poem is a way for many people to relax, cool off when they are angry, clear their head, and make them feel happier or better.

respose to poem

In Tupac Shakur’s poem “If I Fail” he writes about how people should make plans or set goals and not become discouraged if “[They] stumble or crumble,” because we can do anything that we set our minds to (Rose 27). His poem is an encouraging and motivating poem that I think that a lot of people can relate to because he talks about how there are times that people will encounter some kind of hardship while trying to achieve his or her goals. I feel that it is important to know what my goals are, what my plans are, and what steps I’m going to take to achieve my goals. I can relate to this poem in particularly because there are times where I feel like I fail at chasing my goals or dreams going through hardships and not being guide to achieve my goals. There are many experience that I have encounter trying to achieve. Tupac poems allow people see that there are possibility to trying to achieve goals living in poverty with no guidance.

An experience that I have encounter trying to achieve my goal was during my first year in college at University of California Davis. I was the first to attend college in my family and I was trying to make my parents, my siblings and myself proud, but I feel like I have fail at achieving this goal because I am no longer pursuing my education there. I lived in the dorms with random girls that was assign to the suite and had a great experience throughout the whole year, but my performance in class was not paying off. I did not get good grades in some of my classes where I was expecting to get passing grade because I had made the wrong decision by not studying enough and traveling back and forth from Davis to Oakland where my parents and family lived. Like in the poem I was out in a new environment with no one close to me to guide and I had to just listen to what my insider voice was telling me. I’m learning form the mistakes that have made and making changes to trying to achieve the rest of my goals.

Making plans and setting goals in life will lead me to a better future and good times in life trying to achieve my goals. Something that I will take away from this poem is being passionate about chasing and achieving my goals even if there is hardship along the way. If Tupac was able to achieve his goals then I would be able to as well because he has fallen many times and was able to put himself back at the top at try his hardest at achieving his goals. This poem is a really good from the heart poem that myself and other and learn from.

Today in my English class the instructor taught the class about the structure of stories or movies which all follow this pattern. In the story of books or movies there are usually three acts. The first act is at the beginning of a story. The second act is introduce within the thirty minute mark into the story. Then the third act is toward the ninety minute mark of the story the. It has a time line starting from zero to 120 minute interval where in the beginning it starts out with introducing the characters and their goal. Right before it hit’s the 10 min mark an inciting incident occur allowing the audience to grasp onto the movie or story. Now between ten to thirty minute of a story or movie the characters start gathering tools that they need to fulfill the goal. At forty minute into the story the goal of the character is remind so the right at the midpoint which is half way into the story the goal must be reach. Almost before the story or movie is ending the climax happens and then the falling action of the story comes to an end also known as dénouement a French word.

After learning about this when I read or watch a movie I see that this pattern does occur within the story line of something. I think that when directors make a movie they have to follow this pattern because it will have more audience attention and making it more interesting to read or see. If something dread along for too long people will lose interest and the movies or book will lose rating. It would have been better if I didn’t know about this stories structure, but its not like I’m really going to look for this structure in everything movies that I’m going to watch or books that I’m going to read.
